I really liked the teacher. He was very good at explaining the subject and kept all the students engaged. The project was fun and we had weekly assignments

Probably one of the best courses I have taken at Técnico. The course is called Virtual Reality, and unlike other courses that promise one thing and deliver another, this one is genuinely engaging, well-structured, and fun. The course consists of theoretical classes and laboratory classes: The theoretical classes are mandatory (there are quizzes that count toward the final grade), but they are actually interesting. The teacher is very fun and playful, making the start of the semester particularly engaging. You learn a lot about VR, XR, and look at cool experiments and videos. It is rarely boring, perhaps only the statistical part drags a bit, but overall, it feels very practical and relevant. The laboratory classes are a nice compliment to the theory. You have a deliverable each week, but it is not hard at all; you can usually finish it during the class time. The teachers are there to help, not just to judge. In some classes, we even had three teachers present to ensure everyone got support. The evaluation includes the quizzes (which are easy) and a project. For the project, you will work with Unity, but it is not very hard to pick up. There is a massive list of projects to choose from, and they are flexible enough that you can even propose your own idea if you don't like the options. The themes are broad, ours was "Balance in Motion", so we decided to build an earthquake simulator. We designed an interior looking like Técnico using Blender, and the result was pretty fun. Here are some of the things that stood out during the course: Amazing Resources: Unlike courses where you fight over equipment, the hardware availability here is excellent. Técnico offers Oculus Quest 2 headsets (one per group), and you are allowed to take them home to work on your project. Supportive Atmosphere: The teachers are helpful during the labs, especially leading up to the project deliverables. You don't feel lost or abandoned. Real User Testing: In the last few weeks, you do have to put in some work to test your prototype with 20-35 people for your report, but it’s a valuable learning experience to draw conclusions from real data. The Taguspark Day: The final presentation takes place at Taguspark. It’s a day well spent, and the atmosphere is great - Prof. Joaquim even brings pizza for everyone. If you are looking for a course that is well-organized, uses modern tech, and treats students with respect, pick this one. I entered the course hoping it wouldn't be too heavy, and I left feeling like I learned a lot without suffering. Everything was well organized, and I have pretty much nothing negative to say. The quizzes are easy, and the project is super fun, especially if you have an interest in Virtual Reality.

Evaluation: 1 group assignment, mid-term and final exam. Overall very low workload for a semester course. Quite interesting but keep in mind that the course is very regulation focused and that the exam is about learning many regulations/theoretical concepts by heart. Not hard to achieve a good grade.

A lot of effort, especially in the beginning with nearly weekly assignments, however no exam. Professors are enthusiastic about the course. You will learn a lot in the course.

Heavy but nice!

no exam. easy good grades. super interesting assignment where you have to talk to real CEOs about the implication of AI in their jobs.

In-class quizzes with the best 4/5 grades chosen. Easy quizzes as well, just need to prep for 20mins ish ahead of time. Assignment is graded a little more strictly, but high marks are not uncommon. straightforward exam, but don't underrate it. Easy 17+ in exam if you're a bit serious

Very interesting topics, autonomous learning, unreasonable deadlines for 4 homeworks and a full lab report (with 3/4 "lab sessions", micromagnetic simulation, +10 pages expected) in 7 weeks...

Best course I’ve had at nova. Really interesting topics, engaging classroom discussions, the podcast assignment was refreshing as it’s so different from usual presentations/reports etc. and grades were good!

Enjoyed the course and the teacher is great. Average final exam grade was 14, unexpectedly

The contents are very interesting and the professor is very good and enthusiastic! The group work can be a bit of work but it is interesting (usually with a real company that attends the last session). Online sessions every 2 weeks.

The classes and the professor are boring (the professor is not enthusiastic at all) and he doesn’t really do a good job at explaining what we’re learning. The exam lasts only for an hour and a half, which is not at all enough to do it and is difficult. The professor ended up giving 2 additional points to everyone because of its difficulty. We have weekly case studies that require a bit of work from groups (and really depends on the group you get assigned to).

Very interesting course. I just felt like it was pretty badly-organised (EPS dilution and Synergies distribution explained few days before the deadline for the group assignment in which we were obviously expected to include these concepts) and somehow superficial in some critical points.

Extremely boring classes, awful slides, and non-sense exam. Content itself is pretty interesting though.

Essentially, the course was just about copying and pasting some Python codes that the teacher provided. Nothing that you will really learn, and nothing that you will remember.

Professor makes the class interesting but I felt like he didn't give a lot of feedback for the main project where you have to create a company (product/service) and its business plan. Group project grades were good overall but the exam grades varied from 14 to 18.

Good professor with connections to MBB and an very alternative approach to consulting classes (mindfulness and selff-awareness). Do not expect to learn much content in-class, it is very flexible and a really alternative method. The syllabus is pretty much a consulting project but without the long hours. Easy to get good grades (16-18). Almost impossible to get 19, forget 20.

You need to have a strong back ground in statistics. If you are a BA student you are not gonna use python, but a spefic tool that it takes a bit to understant and to learn how to use it, maybe if you are not a BA student is good for you because you don't need to lear to code. Moreover the weekly appointment with the project, it's stressful

Def a demanding course, especially for students with little to no prior experience in data analysis. The weekly simulation (race) was intense, and while the exam was not conceptually very difficult, it was simply not doable within the given time frame. However, the grading was adjusted accordingly, and despite having no prior experience as a Management student, I managed to obtain a grade of 19 (2025).

You learn a lot. Professor is very fast and quite challenging and ambitious. Group projects all resulted in very good grades. Final was challenging but doable (especially in comparison to previous years). Good course for anyone who wants to learn and challenge oneself.

It’s an interesting and really useful course. The group assignments have good real-life application and are very well graded. The final covered a lot of stuff but the questions were mostly trivial. Not hard to achieve a good overall grade (>17)

Very easy assignment. Final was easy but grading was tough resulting in mixed grades. Course is chill if you already have some knowledge but overall, content was too easy for a propers Master‘s program.

The assignment was not complicated but rather confusing and grading ambiguous. Exam was too easy in my opinion. Course was moderately interesting since it was not quantitative at all

Very interesting. No pre knowledge needed. Midterm was easy, Final was challenging. Grades overall very solid and the group projects are quite easy

Subject is interesting but professor makes it an absolute mess. Test rules changed last minute, if not, 50% would have failed. Avoid if possible, the professor is one of the worst at university.

easy group work and easy exam. you can do it all without much study time. for exam it was just same exact structure of mock exam and past year exams, so it was easy. if you have some programming knowledge you won't learn anything at all. classes were awful and from the 3rd week onwards very few people went to class.

very chill course. group work was very easy and quick to do. exam was hard and made overall grades go down. a lot of students had exam grades bellow 15 with group work grades 19+.

One group work which is accessible, but professor doesn't give much guidance. Classes were very boring - professor wasn't very engaging and didn't have the best english skills. Exam was MC and open questions. MC were pretty easy but there were some open questions which we didn't learn or at least focused a lot in class. No material to study from. If in doubt, don't do. From what I heard grades were 18 downwards (with more grades bellow 16).

2 group works + midterm + exam. group works are easy if you study a little bit or have some prior knowledge - they don't require that much time to do; midterm was okay, only MC (they curved it so grades were very high). exam was harder but still fine.

2 group works - 1st one is easy and quick; second one is company valuation requires more effort. choose your group well. Very interesting and good grades (17-20) If you put in the effort and study from the beggining it will be easy. Exam was very easy compared to other years (fall 25/26).

Good Professor, making the classes interactive. No mandatory attendance. No exam but weekly reflections and 1 individual task (interviewing 3 leaders) also 1 group project. Overall high grades.

The class content was really interesting and diverse. Although the Professor tries to make the classes as interactive as possible (Menti, presentations etc), the classes stay boring. A lot of students didn’t visit the classes because they are not mandatory which also decreased the class dynamic. For the group task there are no guidelines at all but grades were high. Multiple choice exam is also easy, covering all classes but you don’t have to learn all details.

The course structure is good with weekly videos, classes, exercises for each topic. Mid term was heavy but doable. In the final exam, for the makeup, the duration was shortened but the number of exercises were basically the same, leading to every student not finishing the exam (but no adjustments in grading were made by the teaching team). Therefore, do the regular exam if possible. Very poor performance of the TAs. You have to do 2 group projects in which you have to use techniques you don’t learn in class. And when you ask for help / guidance from the TAs, you will receive the answer: you have to decide it on your own. So the group tasks were really hard with poor grades in our case at least. Make sure to have someone in your group who knows people or finance because you will be on your own.

You have to do a consulting project for a real organization with all the relevant steps like proposal, team meetings, executive presentation… A lot of slides with a TA who is observing every detail. Professor was a bit unorganized but the TA was very helpful -> had a lot of reviewing meetings with him. Exam was easy since it was a reflective essay. Grades were high. Overall nice if you want to learn something about consulting and its techniques. But without former experience in building slides (or without group members who have this experience) it’s really hard imo.

Professor did this course the first time but was very organized and structured. The slides are all connected to each other and tell a story. A lot of examples to understand the concepts. Professor and exam are fair, he is open for feedback. High grades possible. Weekly graded tests. Case study (group work) is doable. Be present in his classes to understand the calculations.

The best course I’ve ever had!! Super organized Professor and TA. Very fair and helpful. Every class (mandantory to attend) is structured with interactive/practical parts. We had several high ranked guest speakers, a lot of insights. Grades were high.

professor was great and super passionate but the exam is terrible. Even if you study hard you will probably get a low grade just because your answer is not the exact same as in the professor's answers. I was very unhappy about the grading method, they penalized a lot

Very interesting. The professor works hard to keep everyone's attention level always high. There is not so much to study from the slides but the exam will be the same "business proposal" that you already did for your group work (on a different topic but same structure). You will need to create a model on excel to find the best country where to expand (you are the consultant and you are writing for a client, everything is realistic, both the tone and the strategies that you have to suggest).

Lectures weren't very captivating, but course as a field is useful nowadays and fairly interesting. Group project work was relatively light but very well graded (18+ easily achievable from my view for the project). Best 4 out of 5 in-class quizzes counted for final grade (easy 20/20 for first 3 quizzes with a little preparation before the lecture, second 2 quizzes a bit more difficult but definitely doable), so getting between 17.5-20 on this grade component very easy. Final exam quite easy, sufficient time available to answer everything and doable with little studying beforehand.

I have 0 previous economics knowledge and with 1 day of studying i got total of 12. Overall workload is not that much, two group assignments, one mid-term and one paper written final. I loved the professor, he is filming every class and tries to engage the classroom.

Classes were very interesting as we usually had debates. However, the exam questions are stupid and completely irrelevant. Assignments are ok.

Heavy workload throughout the semester, every week there is a Negotiation. But therefore there is no end assignment. Exam was relatively easy, but marked quite harshly. Good grade was quite hard to achieve overall.

BS subject. Only one 3 hour class at Wednesday lectioned ON TAGUSPARK ONLY which already sucks, but the classes are also incredibly boring with not that much real and useful content in them. You are basically learning how to work with Odoo ERP and a 1 or 2 hour-long video on Youtube would probably teach you more than the professor will in the whole term. You have weekly assignments and reports which you have to submit until saturday so that leaves you with 2 and a half days to do them and the professor expects them to be pretty complete and honestly longer than they should be. There is also an optional 10m presentation about bs topics involving Odoo in one way or the other which are poorly evaluated since there is absolutely no way to get to the details of the matter in under 10 minutes. Most of them are about platforms that complement Odoo and they expect you to implement them in your project even though most are paid lol. The teacher is somewhat nice but will also hate you if you don't go to the classes. Some groups (the ones who didn't/couldn't attend most classes) had to stay in Tagus until almost 8pm on the last class to discuss the project with absolutely no previous notice, which I'm pretty sure he can't do. It's kind of hard to get a good grade (17/18+) for absolutely no reason. Overall, too much work and hassle for the importance of the class. Can't even get a good grade. Sucks. Feels like an AI-generated subject that still sucks, the same way your weekly reports will be :)

It is probably a 4 or a 5-star course if you are into the game design/computer interaction field and have experience with Unity, Blender, etc. Professor and classes have a fun dynamic but are mandatory since the quizzes at the end of every class are your whole theoretical evaluation (or you can choose to do the exam). I really don't care about this stuff so they were boring for me, but somehow the professor still made them somewhat enjoyable. Practical component really depends on what you do with it. You choose a theme from a list and can propose any project that fits it as long as it gives you some sort of statistical result/proves some hypothesis. There is no guidance or support for the development of the project, so you must learn at the very least Unity by yourself which is a PAIN to do and to work with. I recommend you to propose a simple project that still gives you a lot of statistical and objective measurable results, even if its not thaaat interesting, since that is really what matters at the end, not really the app/experience ( this course is veeery research-oriented and the final report is literally in ACM scientific paper format and expected to be very complete and serious). We went with a project that was too workload-intensive on development and it ended up impacting my whole 2nd term since you kind of have to commit to the sketches and prototypes you deliver along the way. All that for it to not give us that much data to work with. A lot of people leave the course with a dissertation theme and an already solid project if that's your jam...

would not recommend! the content is interesting and the group work was a good way of learning the course content, however the grades for the group work were only okay and the exam was a joke. we had WAY too little time, so nobody could even get close to completing the exam (so grades were really bad) and the exam was way more complicated than everything we did in class. everyone I know would not recommend this course due to the teacher and the exam, which is sad because the content itself is interesting.

Super easy to get good grades, open-book exam, very chill prof who mainly talks about his experiences and examples from M&A deals - only negative thing is that I feel like I havent really learned a lot, it was more like listening to his stories instead of actually learning something (in my opinion)
